About Us
The Hyderabad Children’s Aid Society is a Charitable Voluntary Organization established in 1950 (Regd No.18 of 1950). The Society runs three homes for the purpose of good administration.The RadhaKishan Home for children in the age group from 7 to 11 years (girls) and the Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan for girls in the age group of 12 to 18+ years are all situated at Nanalnagar. The Vejbai Bal Nivas for boys in the age group from 7 to 18+ years is at Shivarampally. The children residing in the three homes are between the ages of 7 to 18+ years. All the children go to school or college. At Nanalnagar we have the English Medium V.K. Dhage School registered by the Government of Telangana up to class VII.
Our academic performance is good and the Board exam results are encouraging. Children are encouraged to take part in sports, Art and Crafts and all extracurricular activities. Some children go to private schools outside the premises.
Every year one health camp, one Eye Camp and one dental camp are conducted. We have an Hon. Doctor, a Moral Science Teacher and a Yoga Teacher who visit the Homes every week. The main aim of the Society is to give a happy childhood and value based education to poor destitute and orphan children.The children are sheltered in airy spacious buildings with a big playground served Nutritious food and given decent clothing free of cost.
All festivals are celebrated in traditional style.All this is possible with the help of donors, sponsors and well-wishers at home and abroad who contribute generously in cash and kind.Without this help we would not be able to carry on the noble work of the founder couple Shri VenkatKrishnaji Dhage and Smt. Tehminabai Dhage who dedicated their whole life for the betterment of the underprivileged children of the Society.Hyderabad Children’s Aid Society has a rich history to be proud of; The Radha Kishan Home was inaugurated by Dr. Sarvepally Radha Krishnan the Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. Rajendra Pershad the 1st President of Independent India, Shri Lal Bahadur Sastry, Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao Ex-Prime Ministers have all visited the homes and blessed the children.
Dr. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy former President of India was the President of Hyderabad Children’s Aid Society from 1962-1967.All these great personalities have inspired us to keep the Lamp burning.

J.V.NarasingaRao- Former Deputy Chief Minister of A.P. 1967 to 1974 5. Sri. J.ChokkaRao 1974 to 1999 6. Dr. Mrs. Nandini Gandhi 1999 to 2003 7. Mr. DhirajlalKapadia 2003 to 2013 8. Mr. SurenderLunia 2013 to till today In the past 65 years the Society has given to the State/Nation thousands of educated responsible citizens.
The Society is registered with ministry of Home affairs Government of India New Delhi for receiving foreign donations. The Registration No. is- 010230215. The accounts are annually audited and foreign contribution account is also annually submitted to the foreign ministry New Delhi.We need more donors and sponsors to help us in a big way.

Marriages in Balika Bhavan
When the first foundling baby girl Fatima grew up to be eighteen years Amma was anxious to get her married as any other mother would be. She is now happily married and visits her”maika” with her family.There are many well-meaning noble-minded couples who come forward willingly to do the Kanyadan”. Marriages are big occasions. All well-wishers are invited; there is feasting and rejoicing amidst decoration and music and flowers. All the children are dressed in their best clothes.
The bride comes to her maika for her first delivery and is well taken care of She stays on for twenty one days and is then sent home with her husband and in-laws after the “jula” or the naming ceremony which is a small simple ceremony. The mother and the baby are sent home with a few new clothes and other necessities.Married girls with their family are invited on all festivals and celebrations. Amma kept contact with these married girls. Her ever-helping hand was extended to them in time of genuine crisis.
